The Liverpool Underground Film Festival is a unique festival born during lockdown. It is a seasonal film and screenplay competition that culminates in a week-long festival ending with an awards event in Summer.
The festival seeks to showcase daring, unique, and entertaining independent films that transgress convention while challenging complacent audience expectations. We are committed to supporting filmmakers working outside of established industry infrastructures by providing a platform for exhibition and critical discussion, and fostering an alternative, international community based around independent and experimental cinema.
Our directors intend not only to award films but to discuss them on our fortnightly podcast and blog.
We are currently looking at producing a physical festival along with an online alternative for those who can't travel. Watch this space! We will be announcing the programme in May.
Submissions are now closed.
